Since the main purpose of this room is the celebration of the Eucharist, its centerpiece is the altar. A table top of deep cherry wood and walnut burl is supported at each corner by a cluster of four columns. It sits on a raised platform made up of 2'x2' squares of finished wood. The ambo is to the right of the altar and set back a bit. Seating is on three sides of the altar. The main section of pews, equipped with kneelers, runs across the entire room from the doors to the flat sanctuary floor, with four aisles. Six rows of pews are placed on 3" high steps, while the aisles are ramped. There are two rows of chairs in front of these pews. To the left of the altar is a section of chairs for the congregation; and just beyond that is seating for the choir and space for musicians. To the right of the altar are five rows of pews on 6" steps. It adds interest to the room, providing a different degree of slope than that of the main body of pews. The height of the risers made it necessary to install these pews without kneelers. The presider's chair is located at the front of this section of pews. This location indicates that the chair is not the same kind of furniture as the altar and ambo; and, more important, puts the presider a relationship to the community that expresses his oneness with the people whose prayer he leads.

The St. John chapel is to the left of the gathering space. Through efforts of former members of that parish, this chapel has been dedicated in honor of St. John the Baptist parish in Clarksburg, which was founded and supported by Italian immigrants from the turn of the century until it was closed in 1969.

The chapel is primarily for private prayer and devotion. A series of four circular skylights in the gathering space lead to a fifth skylight directly over the tabernacle in the chapel. The tabernacle throne sits in the center of four columns that support a sort of baldachino that rises in two ascending concentric circles up to the domed skylight.
